Our engineers developed a system for fastening shift knobs to shifters that is unlike anything previously seen in the automotive aftermarket. NTIS® Technology, in short, creates a factory-like threaded on shift knob (specific for each vehicle) which is height adjustable by an impressive 1.5" and does not need set screws to secure it to the shifter or orient its logo.
NTISŪ stands for "Nylon Threaded Insert System". Here's how it works:
To the right is a picture which shows the contents of an NTIS® equipped shift knob kit. First, you'll see the familiar TWM classic shift knob (stainless finish), immediately to it's right is the nylon insert followed by the height selection screw and below the logo is the custom tool used to install the knob.
The nylon insert is threaded on both its exterior and interior surfaces. The exterior thread pattern is the same as that of the inside of our shift knob. The interior thread pattern is specific to the application (i.e. Toyota, Mazda, Subaru etc.).

The Height Selection Screw is threaded into the knob first. The depth that this screw is at will ultimately determine the height of the shift knob so as you can see there is a great deal of adjustability. The screw acts as a stopper for the nylon insert as it is threaded into the knob and once they come into contact with one another the shifter will begin to thread itself into the nylon insert.
This is where the magic of the NTIS® system comes into play. Thanks to very tight tolerances, careful material selection and some really trick engineering the knob will encounter an increasing amount of resistance as it is threaded on. This allows you to screw it down until the logo is oriented properly and simply leave it as is... NTIS® Technology ensures that it will stay in place and you no longer have to deal with any set screws to tighten. It's also worth noting that if you'd like your knob at a height even lower than the stock knob you can install the nylon insert without the height selection screw for the lowest knob height possible.
